Ailaika is a brazilian rocklounge duo. Bird-like soundscapes and bossarock moanings are their
favorite seasons. The first EP, leveleve (2009), features sub's (voice/fx) soft japanese-italian
voice with ruivo's (keys/progs) sound experiences. All made of light love and blue.
Meaning something untranslatable, nearly echolalic like "reallyreallylight", the collection of
songs in Portuguese and English talk basically about cool love, bird-thoughts and spring flights,
with an occasional touch of lust or gloominess.
Beyond plain expressions such as Ah, o amor ("Aw, Love..."), Hit de verão" ("Summer Hit") or the title song leveleve, there's the simple will of making light music, music for fun, for faded
red couches smattered by smooth whispers, for sub’s old fashioned batian (japanese grandma)
who taught her how to happily eat rice and cucumbers on holidays.
All this mixed with a bit of fluffy rock too, on songs like Bewitched, or simply strange coffee
desires, as happens on Tatata theme.
The live set features songs from the album and newcomers, interwoven with improvised or
soundtrack atmospheres and topped by sub’s voice&effects and ruivo’s live progs.
Ailaika also keeps a partnership with laikalab, a newborn bureau for the development of
creative ideas on music, art and entertainment.
